Firstly, I'd like to welcome you to mikeashton.co.uk! For months now my friends and family have been badgering me to update the look of my site. I thought it looked alright before but anything for a quiet life.

OK. As you can guess, my name is Mike Ashton. I was born on the 24th March 1979 in a place called Ellesmere Port. I stayed there whilst I grew up and while I finished my GCSE's and A-levels.

Once I completed my exams I moved to Sheffield where I studied hard to pass my Software Engineering degree with first-class honours. I really miss Sheffield and I regret that I don't get to go out there as often as I'd like.

During my university sandwich year I worked for Kodak Limited and returned there on a short-term contract once I had completed my degree. Once this contract was over I moved to pastures new and joined a large software house called Business Objects (was Crystal Decisions) in Ipswich.

When a decision was made to close the Ipswich site I investigated relocating to Vancouver (one of their main development sites) but decided that it really wasn't for me. Instead I moved up North to Manchester.

I'm currently working for a company called Kratos Analytical who manufacture Mass Spectrometers and I am one of the guys responsible for designing and writing the software which is used to analyse the data.

All in all I think it's be a pretty interesting job and a great city to love in.

Anyway, that's enough of the waffle because I'm sure you've heard enough already. While you're here try to visit a number of my mates pages, and (if you get a moment) have a 'flick' through my CV!

Thanks!
Mike Ashton
